Shopping

Alleyway Bookstore

Shopping is a key American pastime, so it’s easy to find everything from garage sales and consignment stores to luxe and outlet malls in the region.

Alongside block chains are also boutiques selling unique items that have regional or local significance. “Buy Local” is a common message, even if residents also buy goods made in Vietnam and China.

Souvenir Ideas

Souvenirs specific to New England include maple syrup and maple products, salt water taffy, cranberry and blueberry products, candles like those made by Nubble Light Co., and anything with a lobster stamped on it.

Sweatshirts bearing the names of universities and colleges make for good gifts as do sports memorabilia from a local team.

State and national parks and most sites will have magnets, keychains, and other small trinkets for purchase.
