Petit Dakar
Senegalese café-diner in Guéliz (l,d; $)

Petit Dakar is a small but sweet diner serving basic Senegalese dishes, with no frills but well cooked, and a nice change from the usual.
The favourite dish here is chicken thiep (60dh), which is chicken with rice in a spicy tomato sauce. Another speciality is mafé, which is beef stewed in a spicy peanut sauce (60dh). They also have snacks and sandwiches.
In the way of drinks, try their bissap with ginger, bissap being the Senegalese name for roselle hibiscus (Jamaican sorrel, known in Arabic as karkaday).

Morocco has a growing community of Senegalese immigrants. Originally hoping to get to Europe, many ended up staying in Morocco (there's an AFP news report about it here), and a sprinkling of simple Senegalese restaurants have appeared to cater for them. Petit Dakar is one such, and very tasty too.
