Le Catanzaro

Decent Italian food at great prices (l,d; $$)

Catanzaro restaurant Marrakesh

Le Catanzaro is Marrakesh's most popular Italian restaurant, and one of the few places in town to offer proper, wood-oven pizzas.

Italian visitors may quibble that the food at Le Catanzaro isn't precisely like mamma used to make, but they do have a pretty good stab at it, and their prices are more than reasonable. A pizza Margherita for example, goes for 60dh.

Beyond pizza, Le Catanzaro has pasta dishes (70–85dh), and proper main courses such as osso bucco (130dh), or rabbit in mustard sauce (120dh). All in all, a very nice change from couscous and tajine.

You can book, and it's good idea to do so, although a lot of people just turn up and wait in line. Le Catanzaro is licensed.
