Benzarrou Jaâfar

classic Moroccan babouches in the Souk des Babouches

Benzarrou Jaâfar

If you’re after a pair of traditional Moroccan leather slippers, Benzarrou Jaâfar is one of the best places to get them.

Babouches et colliers dans le Souk de Marrakech

Moroccan slippers, known as babouches, are soft and comfortable. They look like the back’s been pushed in and trodden down, but in fact the slipper is made like that, and is backless. They’re traditionally made of (obvious, really) Morocco leather. Some have soft soles, for indoor use only, while others have tougher soles for wearing in or out of the house. If you look, you’ll notice that quite a few Moroccans wear babouches in the street.
