Le Bougainvillier (Bougainvillea Café)

Cool café in the heart of the Medina (l,d; $$)

Le Bougainvillier

Le Bougainvillier (formerly the Bougainvillea Café) is a bright little café near the Mouassine Mosque, and very handy for the souks.

Le Bougainvillier

It's a great place to take a breather, or indeed a meal, while exploring the Medina.

Le Bougainvillier

Drinks are a bit on the pricey side by local standards (18dh for a simple espresso), but the food is reasonably priced and tasty. There are Moroccan dishes (chicken tajine 89dh), reasonable pizzas (Margherita 49dh) and pasta (spag bol 69dh), as well as omelettes, sandwiches and pastries.

Le Bougainvillier

The food and drinks are served in a sunken patio with bougainvillea-pink furniture and a few plants. It’s cool and clean, and it’s a haven from the hubbub, although the clientele consists almost entirely of tourists.
