Souk Haddadine

The ironmongers' souk - سوق الحدادين

Souk Haddadine is the ironmongers’ souk. It’s a noisy old place, and you’ll probably hear it before you see it, ringing with the methodical clank of hammers on hot iron.

A lot of the goods made in Souk Haddadine are too big for most visitors to carry home – wrought-iron window grilles and furniture are among the top items – but they also have lanterns, lightshades and even little knick-knacks to buy as souvenirs.

To find Souk Haddadine from Souk Semarine, fork left up Souk Attarine, then left again after 100m, up Souk Kchachbia. Follow Souk Kchachbia to the end, and then turn right into Souk Belâarie, and take the first left.
