Greencastle

Historic college town & covered bridges

DePauw University

Check into The Inn at DePauw and then take a stroll through the historical and lovely DePauw University often called the Harvard of the Midwest. Dine at one of the inn's two restaurants, 2 West Bistro and the Fluttering Duck Bar and Grille known for having one of the largest selections of microbrews in the area.

Check out the stores on the old fashioned courthouse square which is probably best known for the World War II German Buzz Bomb, the forerunner of the Japanese kamikaze and one of only two in the U.S. The other is in storage at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The one in Greencastle is located on the lawn of the courthouse.

Greencastle was also the place where Indiana farm boy turned bank robber John Dillinger got the biggest payday of his criminal career, $75,000.

Get a bite to eat at the award winning Almost Home restaurant. Famous for the broasted chicken and cinnamon rolls, the family-owned Putnam Inn first opened in 1972.
