Accommodation
Dordogne and Quercy has a good range of accommodation, with the market split three ways:
-
Budget offerings include Campsites and Hostels in a few central locations e.g. Souillac and homestays (Airbnb and the like) spread throughout the region.
-
Mid-range options are dominated by bed and breakfasts in villages and rural areas and a few modern chain hotels which can be found in the main centres.
-
Top-end There are a few luxury hotels around Cahors, Sarlat and Périgueux along with a clutch of smaller high-end boutique options.
Location
If you wish to see the whole region the best place to stay is in and around Sarlat where there is a good mix of accommodation. You won't find the grand hotels seen on the Riviera or the big cities, but you will find quality, albeit on a smaller scale
Booking
Wherever you choose, booking well in advance will be key at peak times – reservations at least six months in advance are not uncommon for public and school holidays.
Prices
Keeping prices in the accommodation sector up-to-date is notoriously hard. But to provide a sense, accommodation listings include the price of the cheapest room for two people in normal high-season (prices rocket beyond this in August). All rates include sales tax.
