One of a handful of traditional family-run restaurants still left in central Zadar, Skoblar turns out exemplary Dalmatian cooking, maintaining high standards while keeping prices affordable.

As well as offering the best fresh fish and seafood, Skoblar excels in the kind of home cooking that a lot of fancy restaurants think that they no longer need to bother with – grilled mackerel and sardines, stewed meat dishes, or goulash with home-made gnocchi.

Dishes of the day are chalked up on a board outside; come late and they may have run out of the more popular choices.
