Gabreku 1929, Samobor

A stalwart of the Samobor dining scene for almost a century, Gabreku 19129 is a great place to sample the north-Croatian menu of hearty meat dishes and stomach-filling desserts.

Roast veal and duck count among the specialities of the house; there are also multiple variations on the schnitzel theme. Gabreku 1929’s full-bodied mushroom soup is widely celebrated, and many people come from far and wide just to eat it.

The range of pancakes fills a whole page of the menu, with multiple permutations of ice cream, fruit, berries and nut fillings.

The restaurant is 1km west of the main square at Starogradska 46.

Easiest way to get here is to follow the riverside path along the Gradna to the end, and cross back to the other side of the river.
