Situated right behind Mala Milna beach 3km east of Hvar Town, Gostionica Mala Milna has a beautiful terrace bordered by a garden of cacti and succulents. On the menu are seafood classics like shells and scampi, spaghetti vongole and the local Hvar speciality Gregada stew (mixed fish cooked in white wine).
Octopus baked ispod peke (under a metal lid) is available to those who ring and order in advance.
They also do inexpensive lunchtime staples like pašticada (plum-stewed beef) and stuffed peppers - although these tend to run out quickly so it would be a mistake to bank on them if you don’t hit Male Milna before mid-afternoon.
