Driving

Driving is straightforward in Croatia with rules of the road and local driver behaviour not differing a great deal from that in other European destinations.

Recent construction of a new motorway network ensures swift travel between the main centres, including key coastal hubs such as Rijeka, Zadar and Split - but which does not as yet extend as far south as Dubrovnik.

Slower than the motorway but considerably more scenic is the Magistrala, the single-lane coastal road that winds its way along the Adriatic shore.
