Shops & Shopping

Shopping

T-shirts, fridge magnets and souvenir mugs are pretty much the same in Croatia as anywhere else in the world, and may not even have been manufactured here.

Luckily there is a growing movement among young designers to make thoughtful and useful souvenirs, accessories and clothes involving local products; and a growing number of specialist shops selling their wares.

Markets

Croatian markets are full of fresh, seasonal, and very often locally sourced goodies. Croatian deli products are of high quality and are sure to be enjoyed once you get home. Typical foodie souvenirs include honey (med), jars of truffles (tartufi) or truffle-based sauces, cheeses, brandy (rakija) and the Dalmatian Mali plavac red wine.

In Zagreb there are also antiques- and collectors’ markets where you can pick up all manner of interesting curiosities, many with a bit of local history attached.
