Maligne Lake & Around

Jasper National Park - Alberta Canada

Jasper's key scenic set pieces lie along the Maligne Valley corridor just east of town. Here Maligne Canyon and Maligne Lake are the key draws, though if you've enough time and are organised enough to book campsites in advance, you shouldn't miss the chance to hike above the tree-line along some of the spectacular Skyline Trail.

Also east of Jasper, but almost an hour's drive from town, is Miette Hot Springs & The Sulphur Skyline: the park's only developed hot spring and one of its finest day hikes that includes a summit. It doesn't take much imagination to realise the two belong together!

Maligne Canyon

Spectacular gorge, nice stroll, but busy

Maligne Lake

The largest Rockies lake: beautiful & popular

Miette Hot Springs & Sulphur Skyline

Soaking & the Sulphur Skyline (5hrs/8.6km/hard)

Skyline Trail

Premier backpacking trail: 44km/3 days
