EAT & DRINK

Afternoon Tea Rundle Lounge - Finger Sandwiches

No one goes to the Canadian Rockies for the food, which makes its varied options a pleasant surprise. Banff has the greatest selection – with more Oriental cuisine than you'd expect, due to its popularity with tourists from Asia.

For its size Jasper is quite good and varied too. But elsewhere, it's mostly just the usual North American options, though in general the prices, service and quality are pretty good.

As far as supermarkets go, stock up before you hit the mountains as prices tend to rise and the selection narrows. Taxes are noticeably higher in BC than in Alberta too.

Meals & Prices at-a-glance

  • d = dinner
  • $ = main dishes mostly under $10
  • $$ = main dishes mostly $10–20
  • $$$ = main dishes mostly over $20
