Pass Powderkeg

Minor ski hill & a growing MTB trail network

In winter the minor Pass Powderkeg ski hill offers a mere 14 runs, but these that span the range of abilities and are offered at prices far below that of nearby resorts like Fernie Alpine Resort and Castle Mountain.

But the real plus point is that the place is only lightly visited – making it a good tip for getting fresh tracks after big storms.

Mountain Biking

In summer a good portion of the ski hill is laced with an expanding network of mountain bike trails. These quality, purpose-built trails offer good steady climbs, flowing descents with the odd optional challenging rocky section.

A trail map at the very base of the dirt access road (location of this entry’s map marker) summarises things. The parking lot by the recreation centre a hundred yards away features a good little mountain bike skills course.
