Epirus

An old worker's canteen in the Central Market (l,d; €)

Pork Tripe Hand Pulled Noodle Soup

Epirus is the place to come to see a real slice of Athenian life. Based in the Central Market, it’s a worker’s canteen and is open 24 hours on Friday’s and Saturday’s from October through to Easter.

It serves Greek ‘comfort food’ such as the famed patsas–tripe soup which uses many of an animal’s parts, including feet, to make a soup that is excellent for lining the stomach after a night out–and famously eaten at Greek Easter the Saturday before Easter Sunday to line the stomach after 40 days of fasting/no meat eating.
