Shakespeare's New Place
Don't miss the Knot Garden

Shakespeare lived in a house here in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon for nineteen years until his death in 1616. The house was demolished but the site has been reimagined to reflect the footprint of the original.

The Great Garden is part of the original estate and the Knot Garden has been restored to garden designs that Shakespeare would have been familiar with and maybe even used. He wrote about flowers in his plays (roses are mentioned over 70 times, apparently) and you can just picture him gardening here.
