Claverley

7th century village

Claverley Church

East of Bridgnorth in Shropshire, 7th century Claverley is off the B4176 between the Telford area and Wolverhampton/Bridgnorth.

It's a lovely village, one I was brought to often by my grandfather and step-grandmother. All Saints parish church is said to have been built on a site used for worship before christianity – a yew tree in the churchyard is thought to be over 2500 years old. Inside the church find rare wall paintings from the 13th century with a frieze of 15 knights in armour.

Local pubs include the historic Woodman Inn.
