Croft Castle
Parkland and a hillfort
The castle is interesting, but for me it’s also the setting that makes me want to return to Croft Castle as often as I can. Close to Ludlow and Leominster, the estate is deep in beautiful parkland accessed along a tree-lined drive.
Walk through the house, enjoy the three-acre walled garden and the fascinating ancient St Michael’s Church – note the medieval floor tiles, they were made in Malvern. Sit on a bench and gaze out across the mesmerising views of the countryside. Have a cup of tea, walk in the parkland to visit Croft Ambrey Hillfort, an Iron Age fort.
It’s a special and, as someone once said to me, peaceful place where you could come to think things through.
