Hidcote Gardens
Many gardens in one
Designed by American horticulturalist Major Lawrence Johnston, this series of garden ‘rooms' is considered to be an Arts & Crafts movement masterpiece. It’s a complete contrast to the parkland style of English landscape architect Capability Brown, seen at many properties including Croome Court, Worcestershire and Berrington Hall, Herefordshire.
Hidcote’s paved pathways join the network of individual gardens filled with beautiful plants, many grown from seed collected by Johnston himself. You'll love this place at any time of year and devotees return each season.
Lovely surprises unfold as you weave through archways to discover delights such as the red borders, hornbeam walk, wilderness area and beautifully planted separate areas. There are beautiful views across the Vale of Evesham from several vantage points and the kitchen gardens are splendid, too.
Visit Kiftsgate Gardens opposite as well, if you can work the timing.
