Worcester & Around

Elgar's Birthplace

The city of Worcester is at the centre of the county, so it’s easy to visit any number if attractions nearby, by car or by train.

Around twenty minutes’ drive away are the magnificent Malvern Hills with Great Malvern town at one end of the range (check out the beautiful railway station) and Little Malvern at the other. Walking trails criss-cross these atmospheric hills and this is a great area for cycling.

Also Head for the Morgan Motor Company for museum and factory tours (pre-booking essential) and consider hiring a Morgan to explore!

This is Elgar country, the inspiration for many of his famous works, visit Elgar’s Birthplace in Lower Broadheath, a shrine for music-lovers, about ten minutes’ drive from Worcester.

Visit Upton-upon-Severn, once a port and the only river crossing for many miles around. Croome Court is a National Trust property near Pershore with expansive grounds, landscaped by ‘Capability Brown with views to the Malvern Hills. Also within easy driving distance are Hanbury Hall, Harvington Hall and Witley Court.

To ride the Severn Valley Railway, catch the train or drive to Kidderminster, close to the Wyre Forest National Nature Reserve.
