Malvern Hills
The sleeping dragon
Forming the boundary between Worcestershire and Herefordshire, the Malverns are a dramatic range of undulating hills, known as the sleeping dragon. The views from them are spectacular (on fine days) and the hills themselves are an iconic sight from miles around.
Walkers love the Malverns, climb to the top of the Worcestershire Beacon (via St Ann’s Well or Happy Valley) and then walk their length along the pathways. British Camp, an Iron Age hillfort with visible earthworks, is a walking area with a car park close to the hill access. Also in the area is the Midsummer Hill fort.
You can also hang glide here and cycle around Malvern with bikes for hire and suggested routes, Visit Great Malvern (home of the Morgan Motor Company), Upton-upon-Severn and the pretty town of Ledbury in the area.
