ITINERARIES & TOURS
Birmingham is the major hub of the Midlands with an international airport welcoming many airlines. Plan to spend a few days days for a real taste of the shopping, food, canals, industrial history, art, galleries, museums and entertainment. Visit for a day by train if you are based elsewhere. It’s easy to see the best of Birmingham on foot and by public transport.
Planning to travel around on a country road trip, allow a week or more. Stratford-upon-Avon is always busy so you might plan to spend, say, two nights there and then move on. Many destinations are within a day’s drive of Stratford-upon-Avon, but to explore Shropshire, Herefordshire and the Welsh borders in depth, it’s best to stay in or around Hereford, Ludlow or Shrewsbury.
As a guide, Ludlow is an hour and a half drive from Stratford (55 miles/88.5 kms) without the stops, but the roads less travelled are much more fun in this wonderful part of the world.
Our itineraries guide you around some key destinations in the region and offer the perfect intro to Birmingham and Stratford and Scenic Drives to follow in the West Midlands.

Guided walking tours are always a great way to get to know a city, self-guided walking maps are available from local visitor centres and details of walking tours can also be found there.
Map in hStratford-upon-Avon’s hop-on-hop-off bus is a great way to see the sights. Tickets available for 24 or 48 hours.
