Anne Hathaway’s Cottage
Like it? You'll love it ...
It’s a gem – thatched, polished, full of treasures and with a glorious garden. The Hathaways lived here from 1543 and Anne, Shakespeare’s wife, grew up here. The morning is grfor photography in summer as the light hits the front of the house.
Woven willow arbours were a garden design feature the late 1500s, places of retreat to ponder a lost love. Today you can sit on a bench in the arbour and listen to some of Shakespeare’s sonnets … clever idea.
