Batsford Arboretum
So many trees to hug
One of the UK’s largest collections of trees and plants, Batsford is a lovely place to visit year-round. Gardeners note that there are over 2850 labelled specimens including around 1300 trees, shrubs and types of bamboo.
There’s an emphasis on the Far East and seasonal features to look for, listed on the website such as daffodils in March, National Cherry week in April, bluebells in May, buttercups and foxgloves among the trees and evergreen magnolia in June, autumn colours in October/November.
Batsford is a place for walking – it’s on a hill so only 25% is accessible by manual wheelchair.
Next to the Aboretum, Batsford Park is the Cotswold Falconry Centre. Also nearby: delightful Sezincote House, a house built in the Mogul style of Rajasthan with a Persian Garden of Paradise, Bourton House Garden and the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh.
