Garrick Inn
Shakespeare's local (l,d; ££)
Possibly Stratford’s oldest inn, The Garrick has a fascinating exterior and an atmospheric interior with oak beams. It’s entirely possible that Shakespeare himself dropped in for an ale or two – and maybe he still takes a look as he lived nearby at New Place.
The Garrick is said to be haunted with previous residents dropping in from the ‘other side’ (as the Garrick puts it) now and again, I imagine to see what’s on the pub menu or to check out the ales!
Lunch and dinner plus, snacks, sandwiches and jacket potatoes served until 5pm. This is a Greene King pub, one of a chain around the UK.
