Mary Arden’s Farm
Shakespeare's mother's home
This is where Shakespeare’s mother, Mary Arden, grew up in a house beside the beautiful old Palmer’s Farm at Wilmcote, just 3 miles (4.8 kilometres) from Stratford-upon-Avon. What you’ll find is a fascinating insight into the life and times on a farm in the 1570s – Shakespeare would have learned much about the countryside out here with his grandparents.
This is still a working farm with rare breeds and story boards documenting the changing seasons and farming activities. There are falconry displays and an Enchanted Trail, while volunteers give cooking demonstrations of 1570s farm fare in the farmhouse.
