Lord Leycester Hospital
Home are the warriors
It’s hard to imagine, but this wonderful group of buildings dating from the 14th century was once a retirement home for ex-warriors and their wives in Elizabethan times. What’s more, it remains a home for ex-servicemen and today.
Never a medical facility, it is beside the Norman gateway to Warwick and features the Chantry Chapel dating from the 12th century and still lit only by candles. Look around and be sure to visit the Master’s Garden and have a cup of tea in the cafe.
Also to see, Warwick town centre, Warwick Castle and Warwick Museum.
